In 2006, Hopewell Township enacted an ordinance (06-1381), which requires Criminal Background Checks as a requirement for volunteers of youth programs that are funded by the township or those that utilize township facilities. HVSA is trying to follow the intent of this law and have all coaches go through the basic background checks the township requires.

If you have had a criminal background check for HVSA or another youth serving organization in Hopewell Township (in the past five years), you are not required to have another background check performed. Please inform your Division Coordinator if you have previously had a background check, (either for volunteer or in some cases employment purposes) and this will be verified with the township.

As a volunteer coach, you are responsible for initially laying out the $26.25 fee that is charged to conduct your fingerprinting and background check. HVSA will reimburse you for this fee. Hopewell Valley Soccer Association will not reimburse volunteer coaches the additional fees charged for missed appointments or inability to provide an approved ID as defined on the form.

If you are ready to be fingerprinted and have a background check conducted, please complete the following steps.

1. Open the Volunteer Form file.
2. In Block number 7 enter the following number L07001 (This is the code for Hopewell Township Parks and Recreation Department).
3. Type in blocks #9 through #26 – All are self-explanatory.
4. Print the form.
5. Read the all of the instructions listed on the lower portion of the page. You must read and understand each of these paragraphs, before you make your appointment to be fingerprinted.
6. When you have completely read the instructions on the form contact Morpho Trak for your fingerprinting session. Appointments can be made via the web at the following URL, www.bioapplicant.com/nj 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. For applicants who do not have web access, appointments can be made by contacting Morpho Trak by phone at 1 877-503-5981 on a first call, first served basis Monday thru Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, 9:00 AM to 12 Noon EST.

8. The cost of for the fingerprinting and background checks for volunteers is $26.25. Payment by credit card will be required at the time of scheduling your background check. The applicant’s account will be charged at the time the appointment is scheduled. Payment by money order at the site will be accepted for applicants scheduling via the call center only. Payment by money order must be indicated at the time of scheduling. NO OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE FINGERPRINTING SITE. A fee of $11.00 is charged to cover the cost of a scheduled appointment for
   applicants who do not cancel by noon on the business day prior to your scheduled appointment. The $11.00 fee also applies to applicants who are turned away from the printing sites due to their inability to present proper ID as defined in the Acceptable ID Requirements block on Form No. NJAPS2, or who fail to present form No. NJAPS2.(The form provided to you with these instructions.)
9. Once fingerprinting is complete, keep your receipt and a copy of the form.
10. If you wish to be reimbursed, please provide a photocopy of your receipt to your Division Coordinator.
